This years Mediaaaa :)

I really enjoyed media studies this year, especially making our own advert based on suncream protection. I've also learnt a lot about media and how it influences people. I've also enjoyed doing work about censorship and looking at different views on whether censorship is right or wrong.

Herbal Essence 'The Great Escape' Campaign

The NEW Herbal Essence Campaign which promotes the range of shampoos from Herbal Essence was first aired in the mid 2008. The main differences of the new and old campaigns are the packaging differences and given names of the shampoo according to hair types and what they help to do. They have named the campaign 'The Great Escape' to make the audiences feel that treating their hair with Herbal Essence shampoos will take them to a whole new fantasy world of Lusciousness (sensual) and also escape to a world with no hair problems.
According to Maslow's theory of Needs, this advert is aimed at Succeeder's, who would want to have a manageable and organised life, so the advert is giving the customers a sense of manageability and tidiness to life, which can be met if they use this shampoo.
I think it is also aimed at Explorers, who according to Maslow's theory are people who would want to try out new things in life, like adventure. I think this also links back to the slogan of Herbal Essence products "The Great Escape", in which it tells us, the audience to try something new that's herbal and good for your hair.


The campaign is mainly aimed at young women with problems with unmanageable hair or just normal hair that they want to maintain beautifully.

Maslow's Theory Of Needs - Gucci Ad



This Gucci Advert promotes it's perfume. According to Maslow's theory of Needs, it is aimed at 'Reformers' because it is seen as an enlightenment product as the young women in the video looks like she is being undulged by the perfume.

This pepsi advert talks about including normal people's ideas to make the world a better place. According to Manslow's theory of needs, it is aimed at Reformers, who are willing to contribute to something to make a better world.

Porsche Commercial



This Porsche Commercial promotes (obviously)the iconic Porsche. The commercial uses Emotional appeal, by basing the story line on a young child who dreams to own a Porsche when he grows up. They have used emotional appeal to make the product, Porsche appeal to the audience as it is represented as inspiring and worthy to dream of. The commercial has slow and nostalgic music in the background which helps to bring out the emotional feeling. The lighting in the commercial is quite dull, maybe representing flashback to childhood.
